JOHANNESBURG - Cybersecurity experts warn that deepfakes or manipulated videos, image and information warfare could jeopardise the integrity of the May election.

Deepfakes are digitally manipulated content that portray people saying or doing things they never actually did.

Experts also say that heightened geopolitical tensions place the elections under international scrutiny, increasing the possibility of deep fakes surfacing.
