Transport summit | SA's transport system driving up cost of living

JOHANNESBURG - The country’s transport system is adding to the cost of living and straining households.

These were the words of Transport Minister Barbara Creecy at the Smart Mobility Africa Summit in Midrand.

The sector needs massive investments and private-sector participation to bring about seamless commuting.

While three percent of Gauteng commuters use trains, government says fixing the rail systems for passengers and for freight is its first priority.
