State capture | Concerns over resignation of implicated officials

CAPE TOWN - Parliament has been briefed on the implementation of recommendations of the State Capture Inquiry.

The Justice Committee raised concerns about implicated officials resigning before they are brought to book.

It says the resignations mean that disciplinary action can not be completed.

But, the Committee welcomed the SIU getting freezing orders to ensure some of the money is recouped.

It says criminal actions against those officials should also be considered and instituted.

The SIU updated the committee on investigations into various State-Owned Enterprises.

They include Transnet, SAA, PRASA, Eskom, DENEL, and Alexkor.

Several members of the committee are also calling for civil litigation to recoup lost funds.
