Stage 4 blackouts extended until Sunday

JOHANNESBURG - Eskom has extended stage four blackouts until Sunday morning.

Thereafter, stage three will kick in until Monday morning.

The beleaguered power supplier blames breakdowns and persistent shortages of generation capacity for rolling power cuts.

Eskom says generating units at three power stations tripped within the last 24 hours.

The parastatal will provide the outlook of the blackouts stages for the week ahead.

It says the teams are working around the clock to return units to service.
