Taxi Chaos | Women's Day commemoration moved from Khayelitsha

JOHANNESBURG - Wednesday's National Women’s Day Commemoration will no longer be held in Khayelitsha in the Western Cape.

The event has been moved to the Union Buildings in Pretoria.

The government says the change was necessitated by the ongoing taxi strike in Cape Town.

Khayelitsha has been deemed a high security risk area and unsafe for the event.

The commemoration will begin with a symbolic walk from Sammy Marks Square to the Union Buildings.

President Cyril Ramaphosa will then deliver the keynote address.
