JOHANNESBURG - In Gauteng, the housing backlog is sitting at 1.2-million units, which has led to the mushrooming of informal settlements across the province.
The government is blaming illegal foreign nationals for the increase in the number of informal settlements.
Recently residents in Elandspark, south of Johannesburg expressed their frustration with the informal settlement neighbouring the area.
