It’s time for Mzansi to rise or fall

ROODEPOORT - "Rise Mzansi, rise!" echoed in Ruimsig Stadium on Sunday, during the party’s last rally ahead of the 29 May general elections.

A relatively new kid on the block, Rise Mzansi is contesting elections for the first time.

Donned in party regalia, supporters danced and sang as they waited for leader Songezo Zibi to deliver the keynote address.

Supporters have expressed the need for new leadership. Lawrence Manaka, the party’s Youth and Student Chapters coordinator emphasised that if the right leaders were not chosen at the polls, the country would continue to face the same old problems.

Furthermore, the young ‘Risers” are looking for leaders who would resonate with their thoughts and feelings.

The party has presented itself as a movement for inclusivity, accountability and transparency in governance.

Regional chair, Michael Shackleton, said he was inspired when Zibi told the rally that he would personally hold himself accountable to the nation.

Rise Mzansi says it will focus on combating corruption, reducing inequality and promoting social justice.

The party emphasises the need to improve education, health care and job creation as part of its vision for a better South Africa.

The chants of "Rise Mzansi, rise" were loud. But what counts is whether the party will be able to attract support from a wider audience.
