CAPE TOWN - The new University of Cape Town research reveals the growing economic and health burdens of alcohol and tobacco on households, particularly children in lower-income brackets.

The study shows there's a direct expenditure on alcohol and tobacco in lower-income bracket incomparison to basic necessities.  

Zunda Chisha, PhD candidate at the University of Cape Town says children exposed to the products face negative health outcomes like stunted growth.
