Probe underway after police rescue 90 Ethiopians

JOHANNESBURG - South Africans were left shocked this weekend when police rescued 90 undocumented Ethiopians.

Two members of an alleged human trafficking syndicate were arrested.

Investigations are now underway to determine how and why these people were trafficked into the country.

South Africa remains on Tier 2 watchlist for human trafficking.

This means government does not meet the criteria of dealing with the crime.
