EAST LONDON - As South Africans get ready to commemorate Human Rights Day, the South African Human Rights Commission in the Eastern Cape is sounding a stark warning.

They say there's little to celebrate in the province with nearly 800 complaints pouring in about rights violations, including in healthcare, housing, and malnutrition.

The Commission is highlighting the urgent need for accountability.

Over the past year, the organisation has visited nearly 140 sites across the province, hearing harrowing stories from those whose rights have been compromised.

Dr. Eileen Carter, the Eastern Cape Provincial Manager of the South African Human Rights Commission discussed this with eNCA.
