Discussion |Restore the power grid | Lights on for over 150 days

JOHANNESBURG - Over 150 days and counting, and power cuts remain suspended.

The last time we had uninterrupted supply this long, was in 2021.

The improvement has been attributed to Eskom's recovery plan, the reduction of unplanned outages and the benefits of planned maintenance which has boosted the energy availability factor.

But can it be sustained?

Prof Mark Swilling from the Centre For Sustainability Transitions at Stellenbosch University, discusses this further.
