JOHANNESBURG - After ten months of uninterrupted power, South Africa is now facing a brief blackout on its streak of stability.
WATCH: Discussion | Eskom announces return of rolling blackouts
Eskom has announced a temporary dim moment with Stage 3 rolling blackouts being implemented from last night.
This follows a series of unplanned breakdowns at key power stations, necessitating the use of emergency reserves.
According to the power utility, these reserves now need to be replenished to ensure a stable power supply in the coming weeks.
Despite this setback, Eskom insists this is not a return to the dark days.
The Eskom Board Chairperson, Mteto Nyati discussed the situation with eNCA.
