PRETORIA - The national budget impasse is threatening the future of the government of national unity.

However, the ANC is not prepare to see it go up in smoke.

They're determined to keep this political union intact, holding meetings left, right, and centre with political parties, both inside and outside the GNU, to try resolve matters.

All of their meetings so far have been productive.

But their biggest partner the DA remain firm in their opposition to the VAT increase.
