JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa has ordered the immediate closure of spaza shops, implicated in the deaths of children.
At least 25 children have died and dozens others hospitalised from chemical poisoning found in food.
Ramaphosa has also announced strict health inspections, to prevent the misuse of chemical terbufos and improve food safety controls.
He addressed the nation at the Union Buildings on Friday evening, in response to the deaths and illnesses of children across the country, blamed on contaminated food.
