Vavi: Police must deal with construction mafias

JOHANNESBURG - Criminal elements who disrupt construction sites must be dealt with by law enforcement agencies.

This is the view of Saftu General Secretary, Zwelinzima Vavi.

This comes after a mega-housing project meant to build houses for military veterans in Randfontein has been abandoned by construction companies due to the construction mafia demanding a cut from the project.

Vavi says construction mafias are another reflection of the state of lawlessness in South Africa.
