Steenhuisen: 'We haven't decided to stay or leave GNU'

JOHANNESBURG - The Democratic Alliance's highest decision-making body hasn’t decided on the future of its participation in the government of national unity.

That's the word from its leader, John Steenhuisen.

"Whether we stay in the GNU or not, that is the matter for FEDEX to decide. We had an initial FEDEX over the course of Thursday and Friday but we have not made a decision one way or the other, the FEDEX will continue to meet and assess the current situation,” says Steenhuisen.

The party voted against the adoption of the fiscal framework in Parliament, and is heading to court over the adoption of the report.

This has caused tensions with GNU partners, who say the DA can’t implement the Budget it is opposing.

Steenhuisen’s been campaigning for his party in eThekwini’s ward 110 for the April 16 by-election.
