GEORGE, Western Cape - Minister of Human Settlements, Thembi Simelane, will hold a briefing today (Wednesday) on the outcomes of the investigation into the building collapse in George, Western Cape.
Nearly a year has passed since a collapse of a multi-storey apartment block under construction in George, which claimed the lives of 34 workers last May.

Preliminary findings indicated gross negligence.
In a recent address to Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Human Settlements, Minister Simelane said the lapses that led to the irregular approval of the construction have also pointed to the need for the National Home Builders’ Registration Council to strengthen its systems.
