PRETORIA - The South African Policing Union stands behind KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.
The union believes the probe against Mkhwanazi is politically motivated.
Spokesperson, Lesiba Thobakgale says, they are not opposed the probe by IPID, they believe Mkhwanazi is being targeted.

Mkhwanazi is being ivestigated by IPID for allegedly interfering during the arrest of a senior Correctional Services official.
It is believed that the incident took place in Richards Bay in 2023.
He has been requested to submit a sworn statement by Wednesday.

The union says they will not be drawn into further speculation as over time the matter will be sub judice.
