JOHANNESBURG - National Assembly Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula has decided to take a special leave amid corruption claims.
She's accused of accepting bribes worth millions of rand from a military contractor while she was serving as the Defence and Military Veterans Minister.
The Hawks raided her home this week.
Mapisa-Nqakula says she has informed the President and e Secretary of Parliament. She says this decision is meant to protect the intergity fo Parliament.
She's also cancelled her trip to Switzerland for the Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly.
The Mail and Guaridan reporting that the Speaker will be arrested on Friday. But Mapisa-Nqakula says there has been no formal notification of an arrest warrant.
