JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng ANC chairperson Panyaza Lesufi has described his party as a sinking ship.
He was speaking at the party’s provincial executive Lekgotla in Boksburg on Sunday.
He warned members that the party must renew itself or die.
The ANC in Gauteng lost the May 2024 elections, a reality party chairperson Lesufi urges members to accept.
While he acknowledges the ANC had been tone-deaf to some of the issues raised by the public, he also slammed some government officials he suggests are delinquent, for the party’s electoral decline.
In the wake of Floyd Shivambu’s resignation from the Economic Freedom Fighters, Lesufi says the ANC should not celebrate his departure from the party he co-founded.
The ANC vows to hold people it deploys in government and municipalities accountable, going forward.
