JOHANNESBURG - City of Ekurhuleni mayor Nkosindiphile Xhakaza says the planned motion of no confidence against him is frivolous.
The ICM has put forward a motion of no confidence against him. They allege that he has done nothing to improve the municipality.
The motion has yet to go to the council's programming committee, so it is not known whether it can be brought to the council. Possibly at the end of March.
Xhakaza says that the motion has been sponsored by people who do not want to account for their actions.
To clear the City's finances, the mayor discovered a R2 billion shortfall. After it was investigated, the report was brought before the council.

The report has since been sent to the Auditor General for further investigation.
'Those who are sponsoring the motion are those who stand to account for that R2 billion,' he says.
The motion is allegedly been brought forward by ICM leader Joe Mojapelo. Mojapelo is the City's former COO who was subsequently fired after irregularities in a park project in the municipality were uncovered.
The project was aimed at giving each of the municipality's 112 wards R1 million for the development of parks.
