GQEBERHA - The Eastern Cape recorded a pass rate of 81.4-percent, that is a dramatic increase from the 77-percent in 2022.

But, the province still faces some major barriers to education.

Infrastructure problems still plague schools, with over 100,000 pupils forced to use pit latrines.

Mzimhle Mabona, the Chief Director for examinations and assessment in the Eastern Cape Education Department spoke with eNCA.
