COVID-19 | New variant not cause for concern in SA

JOHANNESBURG - While COVID-19 cases around the world have been on the rise in December,
and bringing through a new JN.1 variant, experts say South Africa is still in the clear, at least for now.

Director of the Centre for Epidemic Response & innovation at Stellenbosch University, Professor Tulio de Oliveira, says cases have gone up in the US as a result of numerous factors, including festivities and gatherings.

Health and medical institutions abroad have reinstated protective measures like mask-wearing.
