JOHANNESBURG - Home Affairs is giving those who may have acquired their Identity documents (IDs) illegally, a chance to come clean.

These documents stand to be cancelled, if their owners do not make representations as to why this should not happen.

This process comes with another headache for the department as to how to end the inconvenience caused by the block to holders of legitimate IDs, while cancelling IDs held by unauthorised persons.
To help navigate this is Smile ID founder and CEO, Mark Straub. Its recent study shows the green ID book is a fraud magnet.
