JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa says a lot still needs to be done to address the challenges facing women in South Africa.
He condemned the heinous violence against women, and presented shocking figures from the Human Sciences Research Council on GBV prevalence.
It shows that 1.5 million women aged 18 years and older, had experienced physical or sexual violence in the past 12 months.
Over 600,000 men in the survey reported having perpetrated physical violence against a woman, in the preceding 12 months.
So how do we turn the tide against gender-based violence?
Phinah Kodisang, CEO of the Soul City Institute, and GBV expert Lisa Vetten joined eNCA to discuss.
Also joining us is the director-general of the Department of Women, Youth and Persons with Disability, Mikateko Maluleke and Tiekie Barnard, who is the CEO of the Shared Value Africa Initiative.
