JOHANNESBURG - International relations experts are having their say on recent developments in the relations between South Africa and the US.

US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, declared South Africa's US Ambassador Ebrahim Rasool persona non grata for his comments on Donald Trump and the Make America Great Again movement.

Professor John Stremlau said he represented a South Africa that sticks to the country's principles

Dr Oscar van Heerden says Rasool did not deserve to be kicked out of the US.

He believes the Trump administration will not welcome anyone sent to replace Rasool.
