JOHANNESBURG - The defence of Jacquen Appollis and Stefano Van Rhyn still rests on proving that confessions about the disappearance of Joshlin Smith were beaten out of them by police.
Cross examination of the police officers involved by their lawyers continued at the Western Cape High Court.
Once the judge has ruled on whether the statements were obtained without coercion, the criminal trial will immediately restart.
On Wednesday, Van Rhyn’s lawyer will cross examine Captain Philip Seekoei who took down his confession.
