DURBAN - The KwaZulu-Natal government has purchased an apartment block to temporarily house those affected by emergency situations.
The announcement follows fresh flooding as heavy rains lash the province.
But government says it is responding quicker after learning painful lessons following April’s deadly floods.
In that event, over 400 people died, tens of thousands were displaced and the estimated cost of repairs soared into the billions.
On Wednesday, the province is expected to close more shelters and move occupants to the Pinetown Student Village.
