SA's water crisis | Umlazi residents thirsty for answers

UMLAZI - Residents of Umlazi in KwaZulu-Natal have been left high and dry.

There is no indication as to when water will be restored to the area.

They've been struggling without any supply for over a year.

A pipe supplying townships in Durban South was damaged over a year ago and has not yet been repaired.

Residents took to the streets on Sunday in protest, calling for answers.

To make matters worse, a pump station was recently vandalised but community members say this is sabotage by those who might be profiting from the water crisis.

eThekwini Mayor Mxolisi Kaunda visited the vandalised pump station and met with community leaders.

He’s promised that repairs will be finished this week.

Kaunda also couldn’t give a time frame for when the pipe that supplies the southern parts of Durban would be fixed.
