JOHANNESBURG - Over 30 years into democracy and government has still not delivered on its housing promises.
Millions were promised homes but still languish on waiting lists.
Some have even died while waiting.
This has, in many ways, resulted in many opting to live in hijacked buildings in the name of affordable housing, putting their lives in danger.
But others, who can afford, sometimes fall prey to disasters such as the George Building tragedy in the Western Cape.
Multiple investigations are still being conducted.
The South African Morning caught up with the National Home Builders Registration Council, one of the entities busy with investigations.
