The attack has heightened calls for a ban on pit bull ownership.
Xiniwe was walking a colleague out of his home when the dogs he'd been breeding for years suddenly turned vicious.
The 67-year-old had been preparing for a funeral service that was scheduled for the next day.
Siyabulela Dayila, who survived the attack, says he tried to save Xiniwe's life but it was too late.
Dikeni residents say they need advice on how to better handle their pit bulls.
The dogs involved in the latest attack have since been put down.
Experts in animal behaviour have often said the onus should be on the owner as pit bulls can be family-friend dogs.
But the unpredictability of the attack on Mpumelelo Xiniwe has left many worried, as the Xiniwe family trusted their pit bulls.
