JOHANNESBURG - East Rand serial rapist Nkosinathi Phakathi has been found guilty of all 148 counts he pleaded on.
They include 90 counts of rape, 43 counts of kidnapping and four counts of compelled rape.
The National Prosecuting Authority welcomes the judgment and is seeking a harsh sentence for Phakathi.
"As the NPA we will be asking the judge to impose a strong sentence that will send a strong message that such offences will not be tolerated and will be prosecuted," said NPA spokesperson Lumka Mahanjane.
Judgment was handed down in the Palm Ridge magistrate's court on Tuesday.
The 32-year-old confessed to at least 93 rapes over nine years.
