JOHANNESBURG - Namibia’s founding president, Sam Nujoma, has died at the age of 95.
The former president died in a Windhoek hospital on Saturday evening, after being hospitalised for medical observation and treatment due to ill health.
President Nangolo Mbumba says Nujoma was a great Founding Father, who lived a long and consequential life during which he exceptionally served the people of his beloved country.
Nujoma is credited with marshalling the Namibian people during the darkest hours of their liberation struggle, until freedom and independence were achieved on 21 March 1990.
