NEWCASTLE - Heavy rain and floods have wreaked havoc in the small KwaZulu-Natal town of Newcastle.
Some 87 people have been evacuated and relocated to community halls.
The town has now come to a standstill, with businesses and public transport shutting down operations.
There's been widespread damage to infrastructure, but thankfully, there are no reports of any deaths.
The provincial disaster management teams are on standby and continue to monitor the situation in a number of districts across the province.
