JOHANNESBURG - Thulani Makhubela has been removed from the inquiry into the Marshalltown fire.
It followed xenophobic remarks on X by the commissioner.
Inquiry Chair Sisi Khampepe says the social media posts show he will not be impartial.

The General Industries' Workers Union of SA is welcomed the removal.
"I think this decision is quite a statement that says it does want all the victims appear before it, and get fair hearing," said the union's Mametlwe Sebei.
