Eastern Cape floods | Mayor to visit hard-hit Coffee Bay

COFFEE BAY - OR Tambo District Municipality mayor, Mesuli Ngqondwana is set to visit the flood-hit town of Coffee Bay on Monday.

The bodies of two children who were swept away during floods have been recovered.

The municipality's head of communications, Zimkhita Macingwane, says rescue efforts will be beefed up.

At least four other people are still missing.

Some major roads have been washed out, leaving residents trapped in surrounding villages.

"I think we must extend a word of appreciation to the community of the area," said Macingwane.

"Since those rains that wreaked havoc, they have been working closely with officials to locate those missing."
