LONDON - South Africa has assumed the Presidency of the G20 – a group of the richest nations in the world – and is hosting the first G20 summit on African soil in November.
President Cyril Ramaphosa has appointed Professor Mariana Mazzucato to be his technical expert to South Africa’s G20 Presidency.

Mazzucato will also be his Special Presidential Representative to a taskforce that looks at inclusive economic growth, industiralisation, employment and reduced inequality.
South Africa is hoping to highlight that the disparities in wealth and the burden that the Global South has had to bear due to development in the North are unsustainable.
