Discussion | AARTO Act | New traffic fine system to be rolled out 2
01:59
JOHANNESBURG - A new traffic fine system is expected to be rolled out at the beginning of July.
At the heart of the Administrative Adjudication of Road Traffic Offences is the demerit points system.
This means if a driver breaks the law on our roads, they lose several points, which could lead to their license being suspended.
SA Fines Chief Executive Officer, Barry Berman says the new system also encourages road users to pay fines as soon as possible, by offering a 50% discount.
