JOHANNESBURG - The Basic Education Department is giving the new General Education Certificate for grade nines a full trial run.
The certificate is to be introduced next year.
It will give pupils who leave school after grade nine a standardised qualification that can serve as a valuable asset for employment or further education.
The department has outlined progress and detailed plans for advancing the GEC pilot programme in the coming year.
Education activist, Hendrick Makaneta discussed this with eNCA.
