JOHANNESBURG - A spaza shop poisoning seems to have happened again.
The Minister for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Velenkosini Hlabisa, was scheduled to visit an 8 year old boy who was hospitalized after eating food from a spaza shop.

He’s currently in the Intensive Car Unit at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital.
The child reportedly fell ill after consuming contaminated snacks from the shop in Mapetla in Soweto.
In November last year, following a series of tragic incidents, the President issued a directive that all spaza shops must register with their respective municipalities and comply with food-handling standards.
Minister Hlabisa discussed this case and the progress of spaza shop regulation with eNCA.
