CAPE TOWN - Funding early childhood development remains a challenge. But there's hope that Finance Minister, Enoch Godongwana, will increase the ECD allocation.
According to Lashiwe Mparadzi of the Real Reform for ECD movement, Godongwana had planned to include a R10-billion allocation for ECD over three years in the last budget.
No doubt such an allocation would drastically increase the number of children subsided. The ECD subsidy is currently R17 per child per day.
