JOHANNESBURG - The IEC has filed papers with the Constitutional Court on an urgent basis.
This after the Electoral Court set aside its decision to bar former President Jacob Zuma from the elections.
IEC Deputy CEO, Masego Sheburi, says it has no ulterior motive but is merely seeking clarity.

"To the extent, the commission has exercised its power and discharged its legal obligation. Commission approached Apex court. The matter is a constitutional matter," Sheburi said.
"Leave it to confirm there’s an issue. Get clarity for future elections. The matter is a weighty constitutional matter."
