JOHANNESBURG - Former Steinhoff CEO Markus Jooste died by suicide in Hermanus following a shocking turn of events on Thursday.
The Financial Sector Conduct Authority fined Jooste R475m for knowingly sharing false information to deceive investors and lenders.

Independent analyst Khaya Sithole expressed his surprise at Jooste's death a day before he was scheduled to hand himself over to authorities.
