JOHANNESBURG - The EFF has labelled US President Donald Trump as the grand wizard of a global Ku Klux Klan.

The statement was released in response to the US' decision to expel, Ebrahim Rasool, South Africa's Ambassador to Washington.

The EFF says South Africa did not expel Reuben Brigety, the former US Ambassador to South Africa, when he made unfounded allegations about the country.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio slammed Rasool as a race-baiting politician and designated him a persona non grata in the US.

EFF MP Chumani Matiwane discussed the statement with eNCA saying, "It is appalling that the world has to be subjected to this kind of hillbilly diplomacy of the Trump regime."

"Really we are being subjected to this fascist regime of Trump which has no respect for existing diplomatic channels which would be pursued whenever there is a challenge with a deployee or ambassador. So it is not surprising that this continued onslaught on South Africa has now escalated to the level where they are expelling our ambassador."

"It is a provocation and bullying tactics by the US which wants to weaken our standing in international relations in South Africa. This is [part of] a backlash for the stance that South Africa has taken, undermining the sovereignty of South Africa to make its own policies and to have its own sovereign international stance when it comes to matters affecting the globe," Matiwane said.
