JOHANNESBURG - Crisis, what crisis?
That's the word from Water and Sanitation Minister Pemmy Majodina on Gauteng's water issues.
She says with full dams there is no crisis.
But, she admits there are problems getting water to households.
"We are not in a crisis. Our water balance is very good but we do have local deficits," she said.
"If you look at our reserves, all our dams have enough water.”
The Minister launched National Water Month at the Eikenhof Pump Station in Johannesburg.
Officials say water leaks and vandalism are also straining the system, meanwhile officials are appealing for residents to continue using water sparingly.
Provincial government officials say more reservoirs are being built to bolster supply.
