JOHANNESBURG - The Defence Force maintains its soldiers in the Democratic Republic of Congo are safe.
Fourteen soldiers were killed near Goma and their remains have since been repatriated back to South Africa.

The SANDF says the remaining troops will not be withdrawn until peace is achieved.
"I can reassure South Africa that our soldiers are safe and there is nothing that they are short of," said SANDF Admiral Prince Tshabalala.
