Lebombo border post | Police escort for trucks entering Mozambique

KOMATIPOORT - Trucks making their way in and out of Mozambique will now be escorted by police.

The deputy commissioner of the Border Management Authority, David Chilembe says this is one of the stringent measures in place to safeguard cargo.

The cost of disruptions in trade and tourism is already close to R1-billion.

SAPS has also deployed more boots on the ground.

For now trucks, small vehicles and pedestrians are moving smoothly through the border.

On Monday, peace in Mozambique will hinge on the Constitutional Council's decision on whether there will be a recount of the disputed results.
