JOHANNESBURG - It's bad news all round for South African's when it comes to electricity.
Following 10 months with no blackouts, Eskom issued an alert for a high risk of rolling blackouts this weekend.
This comes after Thursday's announcement that Nersa has approved a 12.7 percent tarrif hike.
Eskom will hold an urgent briefing on Friday afternoon.

"Over the past seven days, we have experienced several breakdowns that require extended repair times," Eskom Group Chief Executive, Dan Marokane said in a statement.
"This has necessitated the use of all our emergency reserves, which now need to be replenished.
"Consequently, we are closely monitoring the status of our current emergency reserves, and load-shedding up to Stage 4 may be implemented over the weekend.”
