KHAYELITSHA - The Khayelitsha magistrate's court has denied Bishop Xolani Mbeka's bail application.
Mbeka faces seven charges, including rape, attempted murder, and assault, and is accused of coercing young female congregants into sleeping with him in exchange for spiritual healing.
The Magistrate ruled that the bishop exploited his influence and power to rob the victims of their innocence, some of whom were minors at the time.
The case returns to court in July.
