JOHANNESBURG - The Hartbeespoort Dam has been battling invasive water hyacinth for decades.
Now, there seems to be a tiny, little solution.
A weevil species will be released into the dam that will target the green blanket over the dam.
The Water and Sanitation Department is working with the National Research Foundation and Rhodes University.
The hyacinth not only threatens the fresh water supply but also hampers tourism in towns around the North West Dam.
